(Colowyo) is submitting the Second Quarter 1996 Dischazge Monitoring <br />- Report (DMR) to the Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment, Water Quality Control <br />..w-' Division (WQCD). <br />During the second quarter 1996 there were multiple dischazges from Outfall 001 and discrete dischazges <br />from Outfalls 002, 003, 004, and 007. <br />An exceedence of the 30-day average and the daily maximum for TSS at Outfall 001 occurred on May 6, <br />1996. The total iron level exceeded the 30-day average but was below the daily maximum. The <br />exceedences occurred because of the activities associated with the final repair to the primary spillway. Upon <br />completion of the repairs the discharge at Outfall 001 was successfully eliminated. Formal notification was <br />provided to the WQCD in correspondence dated May 29, 1996. <br />Outfa11002 was routinely dischazged on April 8, 1996. The 30-day average discharge limitation for TSS <br />was exceeded. The discharge was within the daily maximum concentration limit. Formal notification <br />regarding the exceedence is being provided to the WQCD as part of this DMR. <br />An exceedence of the 30-day average dischazge limitation for TSS at Outfall 007 occurred on April 22, <br />1996. The discharge was within the daily maximum concentration limit. Notification of the necessary pond <br />repairs and accompanying dischazge was made to the WQCD by R.G. Atkinson on April 22, 1996. Formal <br />notification regazding the exceedence is being provided to the WQCD as part of this DMR. <br />Pursuant to your letter of June 13, 1996, Colowyo will begin notifying the WQCD at the end of every <br />~ -- ~ calendar month whenever there is an exceedence of a 30-day average maximum concentration dischazge. <br />
