The
averages are high due to a sample taken on August l4, 1995 to comply with TR•006 and
sent to Core Laboratories for analysis. The bi-weekly sample results were received last
week for August 17, 1995 and indicated post detox numbers of 0.42 ppm CN-wad and 0.70
ppm CN-total. BMRI weekly samples taken in the weeks following the August 14th
sampling, and analyzed on site, indicate that the post detox numbers were in compliance
;nd RMRT does not nlan any further action. In addition. based or, the averages presented
above, the tailings pond was in compliance during this entire period.
The original purpose of sampling at the post detox location was to confirm the efficiency
of the new INCO system. BMRI believes That this has been verified exhaustivehy.
Samples have shown in the past that at times during initial start up altd shut down, the
INCO system takes some time to warn up and begin to operate efficiently again. During
these times when samples direct from [he 1NC0 system report higher than usual results,
there have never been higher results in the ponds.
