Total affected area
was approximately 32 acres, some 19.5 acres of which has
been reclaimed, and the rest is a large pond. Reclamation
has included seeding or reseeding of overburden storage and
unextracted areas with the pasture grass mix stipulated in
the permit. Many of the existing trees were saved, and a
row of Cottonwood seedlings has been placed along the edge
of the Wilson Avenue right-of-way at approximately 20'
centers. These are now 4' to 6' high, and extend North to
the ditch slopes from about the centerline of the area.
The area immediately West of Wilson and North of the
dewatering pond has been extracted also, since the previous
report. A pond of about 10 surface acres remains, and the
areas around it and around the North, East and West sides of
the dewatering pond have also been planted or replanted to
the pasture grass mentioned. The stand of grass is now
relatively dense and healthy. Numerous small deciduous
trees have been placed along the pond shores, as shown on
the map. These now range in height from 5' to 12' and are
flourishing. They are elm, cottonwood and ash.
Approximately 16.5 acres have been reclaimed in this manner.
Main Office
2300 West Eisenhower Blvd.
Loveland, Colorado 80537 Branch Office
2235 2nd Avenue
Dale D.
