:~
Spring and Seep blonitoring
Performed annually in May (or as soon as practical after snowmelt) along the base of
reclaimed areas along Trout Creek. Flows exceeding 20 gpm will be measured and water
quality samples taken. Lesser flows will be estimated, field measurements of pH,
conductivity and TDS taken.
REVIEW NOTES:
1. The permit is not updated to reflect: TCS-l,
2. Exhibit 4.6-26 shows water monitoring locations. I can't find TCS-1. (Should be SE,
SE, NW Section 36)
3. Table 4.6-54 does not include TCS-1.
4. Data for TCS-1 is presented in Appendix F. Is there enough data to reduce
monitoring since three years worth has now been submitted?
5. The springs and seeps were not monitored for the full suite of pazazneters identified in
Table 4.6-54. Specifically, temperature, pH, specific conductance, and TDS aze
missing. (TSS not required)
6. No water level or water quality data for the Moffat spoils well, M892S was presented.
The permit on p. 4.6-146 says the monitoring will be consistent with monitoring
performed on the West Ridge spoil well , WR-l.
7. No data for M892L was presented.
PHC SUMMARY
The PHC predicts the principle effects of mining to occur in the Trout Creek Basin as
listed below:
1. Increased TDS concentrations in Trout Creek. Expected to reach an upper limit
of approximately 1050 mg/1 during the irrigation season. (page 2.SA-9) (Findings
document says 1090 mg/1).
2. A small change in the partitioning of total runoff into surface and subsurface
components. Prior to mining ratio was 7% surface runoff to 93% infiltration.
Predicted ratio changes to 4% surface flow and 96% subsurface flow.
cc. Larry Routten
