location. Please provide the Division with updated charts and graphs for the
2005 Annual Hydrology Report.
5. Colowyo presents all of the goundwater monitoring data in both chart and graph
form. The Division requests Colowyo to make several additions to the charts and
graphs. For ease of reading of the charts, please include row and column lines to
separate the data. On the graphs, please include the seasonal water elevation
measurements and a line that represents the baseline condition for the sample
location. Please provide the Division with updated charts and graphs for the
2005 Annual Hydrology Report.
6. The range on the pH graphs is 1-10 standard units. While this range encompasses
most of the range for pH (0-14) it is not practical for reporting purposes as all of the
data fall within the range of 6-10 standard units. This wide range of pH decreases the
detail and usefulness of the chart. Please change the range of both the field and
laboratory pH charts (for both surface and ground water) to 6-10 standard units
to increase the chart detail and usefulness. If a pH value falls outside this range,
Colowyo can adjust the range accordingly. Please provide the Division with
updated pH graphs for the 2005 Annual Hydrology Report.
The range on the Total Suspended Solids (TSS) graphs is From 0-1,200 mg/I for
NUGSC to 0-25,000 mg/1 for LTC. The vast majority of the samples, however,
appear to be between 0 mg/I and 100 mg/1. Please include a "low level" TSS graph
for the three sample locations with an appropriate range to increase the graph's
detail and utility. Please note any samples that are outside of the chosen "low
level" range and reference the "high level" TSS graph. Please provide the
Division with updated "low level" TSS graphs for the 2005 Auuual Hydrology
Report.
8. None of the graphs included with the surface and ground water data have units of
measurement shown on them. Please update the surface and ground water graphs
and add the appropriate units of measurement. Please provide the Division with
updated graphs for the 2005 Aunual Hydrology Report.
This concludes the Division's review of the Colowyo Mine's 2005 Annual Hydrology Report.
Please contact me at (303) 866-4929 if you have any questions or comments.
Sincerely,
James R.
