~II~O~IMI ~~~NNL~a II~~o ~
(719) 275-4275 • 315 N. 7th Street • Canon City, CO 81212
March 13, 2007
Mr. Tony Waldron
Division of Reclamation, Mining & Safety
1313 Sherman Street Suite 215
Denver, Colorado 80203-2273
Dear Mr. Waldron:
Re: Annual Report, Annual Date 3/16/06
Bedrock Mine #1, MLR No. M-1997-086,
,
MaR 16?_00I
Pots.~r ~::on,
-' ~` Jcic~j/
The current bond amount is $21,400, the permitted area is
329.69 acres ± and the pit has two mining phases. This pit HAS NOT
been granted a Temporary Cessation and it HAS operated more than 180
days this year. There has been no mining within 200 feet of the Peck
Creek tributary canyon as required. The Annual Report map is an
excerpt from the application map showing the Southeast portion of the
mine where mining activities are taking place at this time.
We will deal specifically with each of the Annual Report
questions as required in Rule 1.15 of the Rules and Regulations and
the Annual Notice Letter.
(1) The new mining areas this year are cross hatched. The slab
stone mining area increased by 4.70 ac. ± this year. Mining
continued on the 4 field stone areas (pink) and the slab stone
areas disturbed in past years (blue). Smaller slab rock mate-
rial continues to stockpiled in processing and sorting areas
east of the clay mine. The stone yards cover an additional
9.44 ac. ±. We continue to use the grizzlies setup in 2002
for processing stone. The following table shows the status of
the area, in acres, disturbed at the mine:
DISTURBANCE STAGE 1
ac. t STAGE 2
ac. t TOTALS
ac. ±
Slab stone mining (blue) 6.47 1.57 8.04
Active field stone mining (pink) 0.78 0.27 1.05
Topsoil stockpiles (tan) 1.47 0 1.47
Partially reclaimed (green) 6.80 0 6.80
Stone Storage (purple) 26.34 1.52 27.86
Total disturbance 41.86 3.36 45.22
(2) No reclamation was required but as in the past we continue to
cleanup the pre-law disturbed area by filling, graded, and
shaped the areas around the perimeter of the area. In addi-
tion, a portion of the pre-law disturbed area has been leveled
for use as a clay storage area (1.52 ac.±, magenta).
