• Total vegetation cover averaged 45.9 percent. Litter, bare soil, and rock cover averaged 29.60, <br />23.73, and 0.80 percent, respectively. Species density averaged 33.5 species per 100 sq. m. <br />Herbaceous Production (Table 2) <br />Total herbaceous production for all species other than alfalfa averaged 1,261.6 pounds per <br />acre. No alfalfa was observed in this reclaimed area. <br />Shrub Density (Table 3) <br />Native shrub, the only woody life form observed in this unit, averaged 1,574.3 individuals per <br />acre. Mountain snowberry (Symphoricarpos rotundifolius) accounted for almost half of this <br />average. Saskatoon serviceberry (Amelanchier alnifolia) and bitterbrush (Purshia tridentata) <br />were also important contributors. Big sagebrush (Seriphidium tridentatum) and Wood's rose <br />(Rosa woodsii) were relatively minor contributors. <br />• <br />• <br />6 <br />
