The 1988 Evaluation of Establishing Vegetation for <br /> the Coors Energy Company, Keenesburg Mine <br /> 1. 0 Introduction <br /> Data on the vegetation of four primary areas of the <br /> Coors Energy Company, Keenesburg Mine located in T3N R64W, <br /> Weld County , Colorado were collected in the period August 19- <br /> 29 , 1988 . <br /> Sampling of the vegetation was performed by collecting <br /> specified data from plots 2 . 4 square feet in area and <br /> randomly located within the study areas . Ten random plots <br /> were in the 1988 Reference Area, twelve in the 1985 Reclama- <br /> 7 <br /> tion Area , 22 in the 1986 Reclamation Area and two in a <br /> 1987 seeded location. The random locations of the plots <br /> were established by the company prior to the sampling. <br /> The attached description contains the proceedures <br /> followed. In addition to these described procedures <br /> plant residues were gathered and bagged separately to <br /> obtain information on litter quantity. <br /> Also added were photographs of each of the plots <br /> of the Reference Area and 1985 Reclamation Area. <br /> A total of 220 separate Kraft paper bags of samples <br /> collected were air dried and net weights in grams were <br /> determined by an analytical laboratory. <br /> Weather at the time of the plot work was hot and dry. <br /> The following sections consist of summary tables and <br /> a review of the study. Conclusions and recommendations are <br /> added to the summaries . <br />
