2080 Braun Drive
Golden, Colo. 80401
September 28 , 1988
Mr. John Althouse
Coors Energy Company
Keenesburg Mine
Keenesburg , Colo. 80643
Dear John,
I am submitting the data I collected for the mine reclamation
program at the Keenesburg Mine. The information consists of
individual data sheets for 44 random sample plots on the 1988
Reference Area, the 1985 and 1986 Reclamation Areas and the
1987 seeding.
Summaries of the data sheets have been tabulated into seven
tables . I have written a review of the sampling including
some conclusions and recommendations .
Together with the above material I have added a description
of the proceedures I used in the collection process; an
initial plant list of 66 species sighted on the permit area
and reclaimed acreages ; color photographic prints of the 22
random plots of the Reference Area and 1985 Reclamation Area;
and mounted specimens of 29 plant species from the permit area.
You and Coors Energy Company are to be commended for the good
reclamation you have successfully accomplished. The reclama-
tion deserves added praise in that it was undertaken with
little if any history or precedent of mine land reclamation
on a Deep Sand range site in the Central High Plains of
Eastern Colorado. I predict that you will have continued and
"growing" success in the future.
I was pleased to do this work with you, and will be glad to
help with any questions you may have in connection with
my collected data.
Yours truly ,
Tom Eaman
Range Scientist
TKE .e
