Additional Page
1999-2000 Annual Report
Pikeview Quarry
M-77-211
Castle Concrete Company
Anniversary Date: May 27
Included with this report are two maps. Map 1 shows the status of the operation with respect to the
land in various categories involving older reclamation and mining. Map 2 shows the locations of Baze and
Enhanced Reclamation work performed since 1996. The distinction between Base and Enhanced Reclamation is
described in detail in the permit. Bazically, Enhanced Reclamation is a publicly funded reclamation program
that addresses visual impact mitigation. The Baze Reclamation is that reclamation performed by Caztle Concrete
to comply with the permitted plans.
Annual Report Layout for this Operation
The annual report for this operation utilizes a unique layout. This layout is necessary because of the
dual reclamation plans for this site (Base vs. Enhanced Reclamation). In each section of the report, all
information provided in previous reports is provided again. To find the current year information look for a
sub-heading that says "UPDATE <current year>." If there is no UPDATE discussion item for the current
year, that means nothing changed with respect to previous information. Occasionally, a new section is added
because a new category is created by the work done. In those cases, the year that section waz added is shown in
the heading. Although somewhat awkward, maintaining the distinctions between Base and Enhanced
Reclamation is important. An advantage to this layout is that all annual report information since the format
was started is contained in the latest document. Other than examining the maps of previous reports, there is no
need to refer to older reports to understand the sequence of work and what has been done and when it was
done.
Map 1
(Wording from 1998 report): This map shows the various features within the quarry itself. Permitted
lands eazt of the eastern edge of the map are not shown on the map because there were no changes in that area
of sufficient significance to show on a map. Therefore, for the eaztern portions of the permit please refer to
maps in previous reports.
One action included this year in the eastern portion of the permit is the installation of drop structures
in the drainage. Other than that, all features eazt of Map 1 and in the permit are az they were in previous years.
Various categories and classes of land are shown on this map. Pleaze note that although the shading for
Affected Land is different from other shades and patterns, all land chat is shaded or indicated with a fill pattern
is, in fact, affected land. The affected land at this operation has reached its maximum extent. Future expansion
of this operation into undisturbed land will be extremely minor, under current plans. That is, under the
current permi[, this operation has expanded to the largest eaten[.
Castle Concrete 2000 Annual Report M-77-211 Pikeview Quarry Page 1 of 4
