• crh.noaa.gov/gjt.
Table 6 contains a listing of discharges from all monitoring points that exhibited flows during the
2000 monitoimg season, presented by quarter.
Table 7 contains a listing of all monitoring points that have been undermined by the Bowie No. 1
Mine, the date of mining, and the panel or section that undermined them.
Table 8 contains a listing of all monitoring points that are potentially impacted by the angle of draw
of the underground workings of the Bowie No. 1 Mine. Since the mine is currently idle, no
prediction of potential monitoring point impacts is presented.
Table 9 contains a listing of Monitoring Point Tables included with this report.
Table 10 contains a listing of Monitoring Point charts included with this report.
Ponds were sampled for water quality when discharging orinflows/outflows were occurring. Ponds
in the permit area are typically spring-fed or seep-fed and exhibit diffuse non-concentrated areas of
inflow. Often the pond outlets present the only point of concentrated flow at which flow
measurements and field pazameters can be obtained. Where possible, quality measurements aze
obtained at the pond inlet. Stagnant water in ponds was not sampled since water quality results
would show the effects of evaporation and stock use and could not be used to evaluate potential
• mine affects.
This report includes data collected specifically to meet requirements of the Division of Minerals and
Geology (DMG). At the request of the DMG, minimum, maximum and average baseline data is
now presented on each monitoring point listing as well as minimum, maximum and average values
for the operational period of the monitoring point and baseline periods where applicable. The
baseline values aze taken from all recorded sampling events until affected by the mining operation,
with operational values reflecting the period following the baseline period.
OVEM Groundwater Monitoring Wells:
Groundwater monitoring wells BO1 through BO8 aze neaz the East Mine facilities (see Map No. 8-1).
Well B07 was monitored for annual water quality parameters as it is downstream of the East mine
facilities. Wells BO1 through B06 and Well B08 are monitored semi-annually for water levels to
assess slope stability in and azound the East mine facilities.
Patterns typically associated with these wells in the past were again evident during the 2000
monitoring year. B03 is blocked and can no longer be monitored for field pazameters or water
quality. Wells B01, BOS, B06 and B08 remained dry throughout the year. Wells B02 and B04
showed moderate water level fluctuations within the established normal ranges previously
documented. Conductivity values at B07 remained within the range of values previously
established. Other monitored parameters fluctuated slightly with established ranges. The 1993
report showed that sulfate and total dissolved solids may be slightly elevated at B07. In 2000
. sulfates averaged 400 mg/l, slightly above the 1993 average of 380 mg/1.
