4.0 CONCLUSION
Generally it appears that reclaimed areas are meeting or are improving
towards meeting the revegetation success criteria required for bond release.
Canopy cover data show that as the age of the stand increases, cover values
' increase; therefore, cover should be sufficient to control erosion.
Species diversity will be sufficient to meet permit requirements. The use
of the seed mixture listed on Table 2 should result in future stands of
vegetation meeting diversity requirements.
'
Shrub density is less than the required 1,000 stems per acre; however, the
data collected indicate that shrub densities are increasing with the age of
i
h
i
lik
l
h
b d
ill
i
i
rements
t
e stand. It
e
y that s
ru
ens
ties w
meet perm
t requ
s
by the end of the ten-year liability period.
'
Productivity information collected in previous years shows a range of values
from 1,320 pounds per acre to 2,900 pounds per acre. The 1985 data from
areas in the third growing season or older fall within the range of
productivity values obtained in previous years.
Data from the 1985 sampling effort indicate that revegetation efforts are
being successful. If the trends identified continue, it is expected that
bond release attempts will be successful.

' -10-
