This substantially exceeded 90 percent of the
performance standard (579 Ib/ac). No alfalfa was encountered during production
sampling. Overabundance of this species is not a problem in the 1993 reclamation.
1996 reclaimed area production data (Figure 2, Tables 5 and 16) showed that average
herbaceous production was 946 oven-dry pounds per acre which substantially exceeded
90 percent of the performance standard (579 Ib/ac). In the 1996 reclaimed areas, alfalfa
averaged only 5.4 Ib/ac; it clearly is not causing or likely to cause a problem with its
overabundance.
1998 reclaimed area production data (Figure 2, Tables 8 and 16) showed that average
herbaceous production was 725 oven-dry pounds per acre which substantially exceeded
90 percent of the performance standard (579 Ib/ac). In the 1998 reclaimed areas, no
• alfalfa was encountered in production sampling. It clearly is not causing or likely to
cause a problem with its overabundance.
l0
