RECEIVED
February 21, zoo2 MAR 0 1 y~2
Mr. Tom Kaldenbach ptnston of Minerals and Gevlo
Environmental Protection Specialist 9Y
Division of Minerals and Geology
1313 Sherman Street, Room 215
Denver, Colorado 80203
Subject: Response to DMG Letter (Attached) Dated March 15, 2001, Referencing
2000 Annual Hydrology Report Review, Foidel Creek Mine, Permit C-82-
056
Dear Tom:
The following addresses the ten italicized questions in the subject letter.
TCC Resuonses to 2000 AHR Review
1. A damaged hydrant was noted at well 97012TH during the 2000 water year. The subject
hydrant was damaged by a contractor working for TCC. TCC instructed the contractor to
repair the damage on several occasions, however they did not comply. TCC
subsequently hired another contractor to repair the hydrant in May 2001.
2. Well 91M006 is incorrectly spotted on Map 13A (I presume this is referring to Figure 2
of the 2000 AHR, Designated Locations, Hydrologic monitoring program) at an indicated
elevation of 7306.9 feet above sea level. The elevation was incorrectly printed, and is
actually 6924.36 feet. The coordinates and elevation for this location was resurveyed by
Twentymile on September 19, 2001. Two (2) copies of the revised Map (Figure 2) are
attached to substitute with the ones in your copies of the Foidel Creek 2000 AHR. This
correction is also reflected in the 2001 AHR.
Several monitoring frequency excursions were noted. These deviations from the
approved plan resulted from a new TCC employee interpreting the plan in a different
manner than proposed. TCC has subsequently hired an outside contractor to monitor and
sample the majority of the DMG sites. I was hired in June 2001 as the new
environmental specialist for TCC. My duties will include QA/QC oversight of
monitoring/sampling activities.
4. Table 65C indicates values of "thousands of gallons" from the discharge meter, while
values in the total flow column indicates "hundreds of gallons". Values for the discharge
meter should actually be in hundreds of gallons. Two (2) copies of the revised Table are
attached to substitute with the ones in your copies of the Foidel Creek 2000 AHR. Text
pages did not require correction.
