~!
Production wells 91-1V and 91-2H were completed in 5/93, and monitoring well 93-2M
was completed 12/93. Production wells and 93-4H completed 3/94, were utilized
for production from cavity #3. Production well 91-2H was modified in 1994 to serve as
an injection and recovery well. Monitoring well EX-2 was cleared to remove lines which
were plugged with solids. Sample lines, access tubing, and several pressure transducers
were removed. EX-2 will be utilized as an open hole until water quality permits re-
installation of water quality sampler. Process and hydrology monitoring reports were
submitted throughout 1994. Operations at WRN were essentially continuous throughout
1994 to meet market demands.
2.0 DESCRIPTION OF PROJECT AREA
2.1 Location and Regional Setting
L
The WRN sodium leases (~I) are located in the Piceance Creek Basin, Rio Blanco County
of northwestern Colorado (see Figure 2-1). The sodium lease tracts are located between
Yellow Creek and Ryan Gulch approximately 41 miles from Meeker, Colorado and 55
miles from Rifle, Colorado by automobile. The climate of the area is semi-arid, annual
precipitation averaging 11-13 inches. Precipitation generally occurs as snow from
November to March and as rain during the remainder of the year. The vegetation is
predominantly sagebrush, pinyon, Utah juniper, western wheatgrass and needle and
thread grass.
• 3
