• Alluvium. Well 6A2 displays a LaMg-HC03 type water with an average TDS values in 1991 of
833 mg/l. This is higher than the 611 mg/t baseline average, but falls within the
baseline range of 454 to 900 mg/l. This well exists in the Hubberson Gulch alluvium
upstream of mine discharges. Irrigation of the pasture surrounding this well began May 6,
1989. All samples from this well collected after that date have had a higher TDS value
than samples collected prior to that date.
WeIL 7A2, located in the Hubberson Gulch alluvium downstream of mine discharges, displays
a CaMg-HC03SO4 type water with an average TDS value in 1991 of 1,229 mg/l. This is higher
than the 1041 mg/t baseline average, but falls within the baseline range of 760 to 1,346
mg/L. TDS values have been trending upward since 1987, most likely a result of the lower
than normal spring runoff during the last five years.
Nell 19A, located in the alluvium of a Hubberson Gulch tributary (006 Gulch) that contains
mine discharges from the NPDES 006 pond, displays a MgLa-S04 type water with an average
TDS value in 1991 of 2,048 mg/l. This is lower than Che 2,158 mg/l baseline average, but
falls within the baseline range of 1,508 to 2,394 mg/l.
• Well 9A1, located in the Watering Trough Gulch alluvium upstream of mine discharges,
displays a CaMg-HC03 type water with an average TDS value in 1991 of 490 mg/l. This is
higher then the 489 mg/l baseline average, but fells within the baseline range of 404 to
566 mg/l.
Wadge Overburden. WeIL 140V, located in the proposed north mining area at which no mining
has yet occurred, displays a M9Ca-S04 type water with an average TDS value in 7947 of
3,414 mg/l. This value is both lower than the baseline average (3,513 mg/l) end the
baseline range of 3,464 to 3,562 mg/l.
WeLI 150V, also located in the proposed north mining area, displays a Na-504 type water
with an average TDS value in 1991 of 6,288 mg/l. This is higher both than the baseline
average (3,394 mg/l) and the baseline range (1,810 to 4,422 mg/I). Again, since no mining
has yet occurred in this area, this rise is a result of natural conditions.
Well 160V is located at the north end of the south mining area in which mining has begun
in 1990. Due to low casing volumes (1.9 gallons both in October, 1990 and July, 7997) and
• a low recovery rate, no samples were collected from this well. A July, 1988 hailing
5
