~~ PERMIT NUMBER: M-77-211 DATE OF INSPECTION FOR DATA IN REPORT: MAY 1990 SUMMARY• CASTLE CONCRETE COMPANY'S MINED LAND RECLAMATION 1989 - 1990 ANNUAL REPORT FOR: PIKEVIEW QUARRY About 15 acres of land was affected by actual mining. An additional 50 to 55 acres was used for processing and product distribution. No additional land was reclaimed in the last year, however, backfilling the lower terraces of Tract AA was initiated. The continued low demand for aggregate greatly restrains the expansion of the operation and also the availability of land to be placed in reclamation. RULE 2.41(1): LOCATION AND NUMBER OF ACRES AFFECTED DURING THAT YEAR. The enclosed annual report map shows the various areas of affected land during the last year and the areas that were placed or are currently under reclamation. Mining occurred in almost exactly the same place that it did in the previous year. Tract AC remains unaffected as well as the western portions of Tract AA. The lack of change from the previous year reflects the continuing low demand for aggregate in Colorado Springs, a situation that is not expected to change for some time. RULE 2.41(2): LOCATIONS AND NUMBER OF ACRES RECLAIMED FOR THAT YEAR. No new land was placed in reclamation in the previous year. This is a result of the fact that the arrangement of various activities has not changed and therefore no new land is available for completion of reclamation. However, an area at the base of the terraced wall in Tract AA has begun to be backfilled. This operation is a result of recommendations by the Mountain Scar Commission's examination of the mining operation.
