1.0 INTRODUCTION
1,1 General

This report presents the results of our analysis of C~~tter Cor-
poration's Schwartzwalder Mine Waste Rock Pile Stability. The study was
authorized by Cotter Corporation Purchase Order No. P-3128 dated
December 27, 1982. The analysis has been completed to provide infor-
mation on geotechnical and hydraulic stability under existing ~:onditions
and under the proposed final reclaimed pile configurations.
1.2 Project Location
The Schwartzwalder Mine surface facilities are located on the
• west bank of Ralston Creek as shown in the Location Map, Pl,ste 1. The
mine facilities are situated in the southeast quadrant of Suction 25,
Township 2S, Range 71W, as located on the USGS "Ralston Buttes" 7-1/2
Minute Quadrangle.
2.0 OBJECTIVE AND SCOPE OF WORK

2,1 Objective
The objective of the engineering analyses described herein is
to evaluate the stability of the east and west waste roc1: piles at
Cotter Corporation's Schwartzwalder Mine near Golden, Col~~rado. The
stability has been evaluated under present conditions and under long-
term conditions which are expected to prevail after mine closure and
-1-
