~~ ~` <br />-2- <br />Personnel <br /> <br />Two people familiar with vegetation nomenclature and sampling techniques. <br />Methodology <br />- 50 meter transects - 50 pin drops per transect record 1st hit and <br />subsequent hits for vegetation cover. <br />- 1 mx 25m woody density plots (each transect). <br />- One soil sample (composite) per sample area. <br />- Record soil depth, slope and dominant aspect at each transect. <br />Colowyo <br />Area 1 -Lower 2 benches on Streeter Fill seeded prior to 1978 <br />Area 2 -Bench seeded Fall, 1981 <br />Area 3 - Bench seeded Fall, 1983 <br />- Minimum of 5 randomly located and oriented transects in each sample <br />area. <br />Total sampling time (1/2 hr per transect) = 8 hours (1 day) <br />Grassy Gap <br />Pit 1 - Min. 5 samples (plus 1 representative sample in "good stand"). <br />Pit 2, 1979 Area - Min. 5 samples <br />Pit 2, 1980 Area - Min. 5 samples <br />Pit 3, 1981 Area - Min. 5 samples <br />Pit 3, 1982 Area - Min. 5 samples <br />Pit 5 - Min. 5 samples <br />Total sampling time = 18 hours (2.25 days) <br />After you review this - Mike Savage, you and I should discuss the issue <br />further, and make arrangements for insuring that the necessary funds, people <br />and equipment will be available during July or August. <br />/th <br />cc: Mike Savage <br />Sandy Emrich <br />Gregg Squire <br />Doc.
