1999 Annual Reclamation Ret_wrt -Raton Creek Mine
Page 2
Previously Revegetated Areas
EFMC revegetated approximately 26 acres of the reclaimed mine site area during the spring and
fall of 1995. Limited reseeding was conducted in 1996. The outline of the revegetated area, and
reseeded areas, are shown on attached Figure I, Mine Site.
Additional Monitoring_Information:
EFMC did not conduct vegetation monitoring during the reporting period.
Noxious Weed Monitorine
EFMC continues to monitor a group of Canada Thistle in a 20' by 20' patch in the reclaimed
area east of the shop building. These plants were similarly treated with an herbicide in 1998 and
again in the summer of 1999. EFMC applied Rodeo herbicide, manufactured by Monsanto,
using a 13'o solution.
EFMC plans to monitor the existing noxious weed locations as well as the entire reclaimed area
in the coming growing season, and will continue to mitigate noxious weed establishment.
Conclusions
Permanent vegetation on the mine site, both on topsoiled and non-topsoiled areas, continues to
show adequate establishment. EFMC will continue to closely monitor erosion control and
vegetation success on the reclaimed areas. Overall reclamation of the disturbed areas continues
to effectively minimize the mining impacts and promote establishment of the site to its approved
postmining land use capabilities.
