III. MONITORING WELLS
• The table below summarizes the well designation, the
top of casing el evation, the location and the
aquifer monitore d during 1992.
WELL
DESIGNATION ELEVATION AQUIFER LOCATION
FPW 4780' Ennis Draw Mine
DH96 4764' Ennis Draw Downstream
from Mine
DH122 4814' Ennis Draw Upstream
from Mine
SMW-2 4803' Reclaimed Mine
Spoil
AMW-1 4804' Undisturbed Mine,
Overburden downstream/
ash
ANW-2 4811' Reclaimed Mine,
Spoil downstream/
ash
•
Included in the appendix of this report are the
drill logs from each of the above quarterly
monitored wells.
When the logs were located, a problem was discovered
with AMW-2. As the Division is aware, the above
ground casing was damaged by cattle. The casing was
repaired; however, a dirt plug had entered into the
casing. An air-track rock drill was used to remove
the plug and remove by air any loose material in the
casing. After the well was cleared, the total depth
was 38.3 feet which is consistent with the previous
level. When the log for this well was located, the
total depth was reported at 44 feet with
perforations from 39 to 44 feet. If the design
criteria of the well is correct, the well is plugged
off above the perforations. If the design criteria
is incorrect, AMW-2 is completed in the wrong
zone. In either case, corrective action must be
taken.
•
Page 5
