CLIMAX MOLYBDENUM CO.
Henderson Mine and Mill
Permit $ M77-342, 1994 Annual Report
March 8, 1995
Page 2
Area 9 - Mill Site Tailings Basin
The facility undertook a test to demonstrate the effectiveness of
4 inch spigots and leadoff deposition during summer, as compared
to 6 inch spigots to enhance dust control. The test was very
successful with the 4 inch spigot and leadoff operation wetting a
larger area of beach. We have determined that the primary
component of the enhanced dust control program was the leadoff
operation and will continue leadoff operation during periods of
high dusting potential. We have also modified water management
practices to allow a larger portion of the process water to be
maintained in the tailings impoundment, keeping more of the
tailing material submerged, while preserving adequate free board
for dam stability and flood control.
Another tailing dam bench was reclaimed, which included regrading
and seeding.
Reclamation near the south corner o
completed, improving the seepwater
the hardware work was completed the
with soil and seeded.
f the tailings dam was
collection in the area. Once
area was re-graded, covered
General Mill Site
The Grand County Weed Control Agent
ongoing noxious weed control for th
follows the guidance of and complie
Noxious Weed Control program.
S Y
was retained to provide
e Mill site. This program
s with the Grand County
Enclosed is the biennial recomputation of the estimated
Mine and Mill reclamation costs as specified by Permit
period 1995 - 1996. We will await your verification of
calculation before increasing our bond.
Sincerely,
~£~
ones
Environmental Manager
CLIMAX Molybdenum Co.
:Henderson
for the
our
