Mr. R. Cattany
10/18/07
conditions during 2007 allowed the collection of several water quality samples
in Windy Gulch. A report will be prepared for the 2006 and 2007 water
quality sampling results and provided to DRMS when the report is complete.
Results to date indicate that the stream bypass work done in 2002-03 has
been effective in improving stream water quality in Windy Gulch.
3. Monitoring, management and control of Canadian thistle infestations in select
spots of site reciamation areas is being continued when appropriate. It is
expected that elimination of the thistle in these areas will be difficult, if not
likely impossible, to achieve. Site inspection and herbicide spray control of
identified thistle areas will continue when identified and deemed necessary.
Site inspections during 2007 identified several isolated thistle infestations on
reclaimed areas; this is further evidence that the problem will not be _
-- -- comp etely eliminated,-but can be reasonati y controlled- - - -
4. Other stormwater surface drainage features in the project site were inspected
during 2007. Silt removal and minor ditch repair in an area along the East
diversion ditch for the lower tailings site has been completed and
observations subsequent to the work indicates that the issue has been
resolved. This work along with some minor regrading work on the 9360
waste rock dump top was completed in late 2006. An area of minor water
ponding (less than 1/10 of an acre) was observed on the 9360 dump; this has
been resolved based on observations during the Spring 2007 runoff season.
No other surface water management issues were identified during 2007 and
all stormwater management structures appear to be functional and in
operating order.
5. Based upon the very low level of physical reclamation activity during 2007, an
update map is not being filed with this report.
END OF REPORT
P.O.
