' Banks and Gesso, LLC

There are no wastes generated by current activities at the site.
3.4 Zoning and Land Use
To the South: Sand and gravel mining
To the West: South Platte River, sand and gravel mining, Adams
County park land
To the North: Residential
' To the East: Residential
The surrounding zoning is primarily agricultural with the permitted uses
being basically single family residential.
' 3.5 Site Characteristics
Figure 1 of Appendix 3 (Environmental Sampling Report) shows the site
' topography, surface water bodies (i.e. two small ponds, a ditch and the
South Platte River) as well as the location of five ground water monitoring
wells installed by ASCI.
There are two v/ater wells on the property located in the southeast corner
near the buildings. These wells are not in use at the present time and do
not supply domestic drinking water. There are three septic system/leach
' fields on the property
' 3.6 Ground Water
The measured concentrations do not exceed Colorado drinking water
' standards. Ground water was sampled in five locations on the site (see
Appendix 3 Environmental Sampling Report). Very low concentrations of
some organochlorine pesticides were measured in two of the wells, which
' are located adjacent to the buildings on site. (see Appendix 4 -letter from
Grant Environmental concerning ground water).
' Appendix 5 contains a list and map of permitted wells within one-half mile
of the site. Also contained in Appendix 5 is documentation that domestic
drinking water in this area is supplied by taps from the South Adams
Water District.
Currently, ground water is not used on site except for some minor lawn
' and garden irrigation. The proposed sand and gravel mining plans call for
dewatering the mine and discharge of the dewatering water into the South
Platte River. The original plans had a slurry wall (ground water barrier)
' planned around the perimeter of the mine but this has been revised and
now includes lining the excavated areas with shale from the pit floor.
