Designed and evaluated dewatering options in a fractured, pseudokarst aquifer
contaminated widt jet fuel ru the proposed Intenrational Terminal Building in Honolulu, Hawaii using
MODFLOW/MT3D. Site-specific aquifer data were collected, interpreted, and used in the model.
Senior Hydrogeologist. Analyzed site water balance, and seepage of the proposed in-pit mbbilization and capper
1 leaching operation at Ure ASARCO Silver Bell Solution Exchange-Electrowinning (SX-EW) project, Pima County,
Arizona in support of an Aquifer Protection Pemrit Evaluated Best Available Demonstrated Control Technologies
(BADC'f) to minimize groundwater quality impacts.
1 Senior Hydrogeologist. Performed hydrogeologic charactetiration and evahration of in-siN enhanced
bioremediation of chlorinated solvents at a confidrntia! site in California. Modeled potential subsurface remedisuon
alternatives using VENTOVG and BIOPLUMEII.
1 WT Environmental Consultants, Inc., Golden, Colorado 1990-1997
Senior Hydrogeologist Performed hydrogeologic cha.artnr;>ation and water quality monitoring for a proposed
' limestone mine in Colorado to support a CMLRD 112 permit Evaluated the effect of mining on the aquifer
beneath the site and the potential to influence migration of contazninants from a landfill north of the site. Studied
the occurtence of selenium in site soils, its potrnfial for leaching, and impact to groundwater.
' Senior Hydrogeologist Conducted 3-D geologic modeling of proposed limestone mine in Colorado using
TECHBASE to support preliminary mine design efforts and estimation of ore reserves.
Senior Hydrogeologist Provided geological and hydrological support for a gravel mine permit on the buffer zone
1 of the Rocky Flats Environmental Technology Site, Jefferson County, Colorado.
James L. Grant and Associates/Grant Environmental, Inc., Englewood, Colorado 1985-1990
1 Chief Hydrogeologist. Conducted a pathways analysis in support of a landfill liner waiver application for a
LLRW disposal facility in Beatty, Nevada. Analysis included a detemrination of the optimal waste cell and
cover design using the HELP model, and predictive modeling of a waste release to the vadose zone to determine
1 its impact on groundwater water quality in the saturated zone. The release simulation modeling was performed
using the UNSAT2 and MOC codes. The pathways evaluation resulted in a successful liner waiver application
that saved the client over $2M in design, engineering, and maintenance costs.
1 Chief Hydrogeologist Prepared comprehensive geologic, mineral resource, geochemical, surface water, and
groundwater characterization sections for the license application of the Ward Valley low-level radioactive waste
(LLRW) land disposal facility in the Mojave Desert of southern California. Studies included the interpretation
1 of subsurface geological, geotechnical and geophysical data to depths over 2000 feet, evaluation of water
quality data from monitoring wells over 900 feet deep, geochemical modeling using PHREEQE and
MINTEQA2, groundwater rechazge rate determinations using radioactive and stable isotope geochemical data,
and carbon-14 and tritium groundwater ages. The Ward Valley LLRW disposal site application was reviewed
and approved by the NRC, NSF, and other federal and state agencies.
Chief Hydrogeologist. Prepared an environmental sampling and analysis program for the Colorado School of
1 Mines Claypits Site and Colorado School of Mines Research Institute Facility. The sampling and analysis plan
included a summary of the site characteristics, proposed pathways to be sampled, and sampling and analysis
procedures. The sampling and analysis program include collection and analysis of surface water samples to
determined the appropriate analyzes for quarterly sampling.
1 Senior Hydrogeologist. Characterized the complex hydrogeolagy of a treated wood products site situated over
flooded, abandoned mine workings in weaWered and solutioned carbonate rock near Joplin, Missouri. Installed
' monitoring well clusters, collected soil samples for physical and chemical analysis, and performed pumping and
slug tests to evaluate aquifer hydraulic properties and the interconnection of water-table and confined aquifers.
Evaluated groundwater remediation alternatives using MOC and MODFLOW. Evaluated surface impoundment
engineered cover designs using the HELP and UNSAT2 models
1
1
