' Richard L. Henry ~ acrr~vrr:crr, rrra, cow
Page 3
selected barrier design minimized groundwater impacts and provided RCRA-compliant consolidation and
containment of wastes, debris, and contaminated soils for 1,000 years.
' Technical Manager. Integrated seismic refraction daha, subsurface hydrogeologic information, and french
drain as-bunts into a geographic information system (GIS) to visualize hydrogeologic conditions in 3-
' dimensions, identify groundwater flow paths, and to determine groundwater underllow along the french drain at
the Rocky Flats Environmental Technology Site, Golden, Colorado. The analysis was performed on a
workstation using Intergraph's ERMA/MGEIMGANoxe1 software.
' Technical Manager. Provided technical management of the 34.SM Rocky Flats Operable Unit 4 Phase 11
RFI/RI for the Solar Evaporation Ponds that included accelerated field data wflection using innovative
screening assessment techniques and characterization of the contaminant plumes in the salivated zone using
' surface and subsurface hydrogeological and geochemical data. The field program provided high quality data
over a large area in a shoR time period to support site risk management decisions regarding an accelerated
groundwater cleanup plan.
' Principal Hydrogeologist. Performed a Feasibility Study of groundwater remediation alternatives for Rocky
Flats Operable Unit 2. The Feasibility Study included an evaluation of contaminant transport using
MODFLOW and MT3D. The Feasibility Study recommended development of a Technical Impracticability (T7)
' waiver for the site because of the exveme difficulty in recovering contaminants from groundwater in the
variably saturated, low perma~bility, fractured bedrock formations.
t
1

1
1

1
Peer Reviewer. Served onrrhree-member Peer Review Panel for the Monticello Uranium Mill Tailings
Repository in Utah. The panel reviewed the permit application, evaluated the potential for siting a uranium mill
tailings waste landfill at the site, and reviewed the technical work performed in support of the permit
application. The review panel provided recotnntendations for improving the permit application that led to its
acceptance by the regulators.
Technical Drrector. Provided senior technical direction for the Risk-Based Remediation Technology
Demonstration Project for ate Air Force Center for Environmental Excellence. Project involved the development
of protocols for tiered httman-health and ecological risk-based corrective actions at fuel- and chlorinated
solvent-contaminated sites, including a demonstration and evaluation of local source removal, natural
attenuation and long-term monitoring as the sole closure alternative at eight U. S. Air Force bases. The risk-
based natural attenuation approach proved successful for evaluating and closing these Air Force facilities and is
being widely applied as the remediation approach of choice at numerous Air Force site closures across the U. S.
Principal Hydrogeologist. Performed a hydrogeologic evaluation to support remedial design/remedial action
(RD/RA) using Visual Modflow to evaluate the performance of a barier walllgroundwater collection system
installed at the Lowry Landfill NPL site east of Denver, Colorado.
Principal Hydrogeologlst. Responsible for the development of a literature survey and technology
demonstration of natural attenuation of chlorinated hydrocarbons at Ciba-Geigy's Toms River Plant in New
Jersey. Provided a field sampling and analysis protocol to support the intrinsic remediation evaluation.
AGRA Earth and Environmental, Inc., Denver, Colorado
1991-1993
Senior Protect Manager. Performed site hydrogeologic characterization, baseline surface water and groundwater
quality, fly ash and leachate chemistry, and performance modeling of liner and cover designs to support a
Certificate of Designation for acoal-fired power plant fly ash landfill in an active shale mine in Jefferson County,
Colorado. Perfornance modeling was conducted using the VLEACH, FOWL, MYGRT, and I~LP models.
Senior Hydrogeologist. Developed 2-D and 3-D models of the subsurface hydrogeology and open-pit
configrvation at a proposed limestone mine expansion in Colorado to support an environmental impacts analysis
using AutoCad and DCA Engineering software, and MODFLOWfMT3D.
1
