of making comparisons to premine conditions and predicted impacts, recognizing seasonal
fluctuations, and deterrrumng the possibility of future mine related degradation.
One other, minor problem with the report I found was that it was difficult to determine
what each site was monitoring, such as uppgradient of mining influence, downstream of
a particular pit, etc. Should the report be reviewed by someone other than the lead
specialist on the site, a considerable amount of research must go into finding out what
is monitored where, and for what. It would be helpful if Kerr would include a brief
description of each site, such as "downgradient coal aquifer", "uQstream on Bush Draw,
above mining activities", etc. Most other operators include this information, and I have
found it to save a considerable amount of time when conducting these reviews.
I didn't check whether all required monitoring was conducted, since you indicated you had
already done this portion of the review.
If you or the operator have any questions or need additional information regarding this review,
let me know.
c: Larry Routten
SLB\041295.WP
Wally Erickson L April 12, 1995
