As one member of the local neighborhood Troup
I have witnessed blatant bias for big business regarding gravel
mining in our area. I ask you why after repeated hearings and sufficient
' proof against your county regulations on land use are we still
battling mining on this property.
' Both hydrologists have concluded water tables would drop, mitigation
has been suggested. Sterling insists there will be no effect. WHY
then is mitigation necessary? On every issue; water, noise, public
health, public welfare and prosperity mitigation has been offerE~d.
Mitigation is not the issue here, LAND USE REGULATIONS are and this
proposal, because of it's location and proximity to our properties,
' DOES NOT MEET LAND USE REGULATIONS as established by Larimer County.
Time and time again Sterling has not lived up to it's commitments,
even as recently as negotiations Sterling in my opinion has not dealt
with the landowners in good faith.
Once again, on September 26, 1988 we, as a small residential group
will stand up and fight the proposed mining of this property. We
have the evidence and we have dealt in good faith for the past eight
months. I can only hope that you, the commissioners, review the
material, and make the only decision which the evidence supports;
Mining is not harmonious with with the area and mitigative efforts
are only concilatory in nature.
' Kind Regards.
Sincerely,

Richard W. Miller

1
