BATTLE MOUNTAIN RESOURCES, INC.
January 6, 2003
Mr. Jim Dillie
State of Colorado /
Division of Minerals and Geology
1313 Sherman Street, Room 215
Denver, CO 80203
RECEIVED j=
JAN 10 2003
Re: Battle Mountain Resources Inc.
San Luis Project ~
CMLRB Permit No. M-88-112 ~/-
December 2002 Monthl
Dear Mr. Dillie:
Division of Minerals and Geology
The following summarizes monitoring and site activities at the Battle Mountain
Resources Inc., San Luis Project for the month of December 2002.
Surface and ground water monitoring and analysis were completed for all required sites
during the month. All surface water stations were inspected and recorded weekly as per
the permit terms and conditions. Inspection dates were 12/03, 12/11, 12/19, and 12/27 as
represented by the attached field log report copies. These inspections and recordings
identified readings at RS-1 as frozen, RS-2, RS-3 and RS-5 as zero (0) inches and RS-4
and RS-6 as dry. The monthly precipitation accumulation for December was 0.007
inches associated with light snowfall events.
Vacuum on the tailing lysimeters was verified on December 3151, no water was present
for sampling and subsequent analysis as represented on the attached Feld log report
copies.
Depths to water were collected for the tailing impoundment main embankment and West
Pit piezometers/monitoring wells on December 3151 as represented on the attached field
log report copies. The December 3151 tailing impoundment piezometer measurements
identified these installations were either dry or contained less than 12 inches of water as
illustrated in Table 2. Tables 1 and 2 below identifies the depth to water measurements
collected for each of the site monitoring wells, piezometers and lysimeters.
The tailing impoundment collection pond underdrain flow was pumped intermittently
during the month to minimize the collection pond level. The leak detection system was
measured on December 31st. The December 2002 collection pond underdrain flow
average was 46.47 gpm and a total of 630 gallons of water was excavated from the leak
P.O.
