• and Spoil Monitoring Reports for the 1907, 1980, and 1989 field seasons, and the Annual <br />Reclamation Reports (PCC, 1900; 1989; 1990; 1992; PWCC, 1993, 1994, 1995, 1996). <br />Topsoil replacement depths for the 1997 field season are presented in Table 97,2. <br />Soil Balance <br />Seneca submitted the final soil balance as Technical Revision No. 31 on June 16, 1997 as <br />the final reclamation - topsoil management plan for Seneca II. Subsequently, the CDMG <br />approved [his final topsoil management plan on December 9, 1997. Hence, no sail balance <br />will be submitted with any further Annual Reclamation Report. <br />Soil Salvaq e, Storage antl Replacement <br />Soil salvage (disturbance) areas and soil stockpiles sites as of December 31, 1997 are <br />shown on Exhibit 9-3a, from [he 1995 Annual Reclamation Repo r[. Topsoil stockpile volume <br />information is presented in Table 97,1. Approximately 329.0 acre-feet of soil was <br />stockpiled as of December 31, 1997. Using end dumps and dozers 86.6 acres of topsoil was <br />replaced during 1997, see drawing 5297 -4A. The soil was removed from stockpiles O and HH. <br />• Soil Rediscri bu[ion Thickness Updated <br />SCC will follow the final reclamation - topsoil management plan approved in TR-31 for the <br />remainder of [he Seneca II Mine life, since it covers all of the remaining disturbed lands <br />which need to be topsoiled. <br />Rev eg elation <br />Seeding and Shrub P1anLing <br />Permanent revegetation activities in 1997 included planting and seeding of shrubs as <br />described below, and drill seeding with permanent Seed Mix M1 )see Table 97,31. 40.3 acres <br />were permanently seeded at Auger Area E and 36.7 acres in the lower Wolf Creek Area, see <br />drawing 5297-4. A total of 19,618 sh[ub seedlings were planted in 2 concentrated planting <br />areas in 1997, see drawing 5297 -4A. Table 97.4r lists planting areas, approximate <br />acreages, species composition of each area, and the total numbers planted by species for <br />each area. All plant materials were one-year-old containerized nursery stock developed <br />from bitterbrus h, chokecherry, Ga mbel oak, serviceberr y, snowberry, and Woods rose seed <br />collected from the Seneca II mine site. The seedlings were grown and planted by Bitterroot <br />• Native Growers, Inc. (BNGI of Hamilton, Montana. Tree Guard browse repellent was placed on <br />all planted seedlings.
