and may be found in the PAP on pages 7-341 and 342 (ground water) azid 7-349 and 350
{surface water). •
After their review of last year's Seneca II/II-W ARHS, the CDMG made several suggestions
to be incorporated into thrs yeaz's AHAS. The first suggestign concerned the use of
Colozado Department of Health water quality standards. Those changes have been
implemented in the folloxing ground and surface rater use discussigna. The second
suggestion concerned xa ter quality detection limits and unite displayed on the rater
quality use tables. Those issues are clarified in the same ground and surface rater use
discussions. Also, a request was made to explain the "B" and "<" symbols found on the
watez quality reports found in the ground and surface rater quality appendices. These
water quality reports aze computer generated and are not made able to edit. Therefore, an
explanation of those symbols will be made in this and all future AHR Introductions. In
addition, an explanation rill be provided in the Table of Contents for each rater quality
appendix. The "<" symbol found to the left of a water quality value indicates that value
is less than the Method Detection Limit (MDL) . The "B" symbol found to the left of a
water quality value indicates that valve is between the I91L and the Practical Quantitation
Limit (PQL). Stated simply, a "B" indicates that a value has a lesser degzee of precision
and accuracy than a value above the PQL. Finally, a request was made by the CDMG to •
include baseline water quality data in the AHRS. Since mining began at Seneca II before
SMCRA regulations, no baseline data ass collected. Hoxever, baseline data rill be
included in SCC's Seneca II-W and Yoast Mine AHRS.
Meteorological Oata
Precipitation data was obtained at the Seneca II Mine using a Belfort Weighing Bucket Rain
Gage. Daily precipitation data for this year aze presented in Table 1. Total monthly
precipitatign data collected since 1981 are presented in Table 2. Where indicated, data
from the U.S. Weather Service - Hayden Station were used. Temperature, rind speed and
direction data are presented rn Appendix B of the Seneca II-W ABR. Tho Seneca II-W Mine
Meteorological Station located approximately seven miles eouthxest of the Seneca II Mine.
Climatic conditions are similar between the two mines.
Data from the National Climatic Data Center for the Hayden Station was used to evaluate
the precipitation trend . For this year, 16.14 inches of precipitation was measured, which •
2
