SPECIAL NOTE: CDMG is aware that CEC, in pursuing its role as a good
corporate citizen, has offered to accept certain mining wastes from early
] 900's mineral mining operations in the area of the Clear Creek watershed for
disposal at the Keenesburg site. Tliis offer is conditioned on the receipt of
approvals from Colorado Department of Public Health and Enviromnent and
from Weld Cowity, in the form of a revised Certificate of Designation and
Use by Special Review (issued by the County). The mineral mining wastes
will be an insignificant volume, compared to the total volume of ash disposed
of at the Keenesburg site, and will be handled in a -naruier which will isolate
them within layers of ash in the existing disposal pits ("A" and "B") to
protect against the possibility of contamination. As of January, 1998, the
Weld County Board of Cotmnissioners has given its approval to amending the
existing documents to allow for this waste's disposal at tl~e Keenesburg site.
A Minor Revision application submittal to CDMG, to incorporate the mining
waste disposal in the context of the Permit, will be forthcoming. The first
transportation of mining wastes is not anticipated until late Spring, 1998. NO
MINING WASTES FROM MINERAL MINING OPERATIONS WERE
TRANSPORTED TO OR DEPOSITED AT THE KEENESBURG SITE IN
• 1997.
~~
AIiR-1997 -85- Stipulation #24-25
