However, it appeared
to be less than last year.
Other No
StruauraL•
Differential Settling No
Cracks or Slides No
Seepage No
Other No
Appurtenant Structures
Defective Spillways No
Dewatering Device Clogged Not applicable (none installed)
Faulty Gates, Baffles, Pumps No
Other No
Additional Comments:
The inlet to the pond is entrenching. The quantity of sediment in the pond is estimated at 0.06 acre feet
(30% of capacity).
Maintenance Required:
1. Re-compact burrows with in-situ backfill to dam construction specifications. Reseed disturbed areas.
2. Revegetate the sparsely or unvegetated areas of upstream slopes.
' Recommend:
1

L
1

Although perches have been installed as recommended last year and are used by raptors, raptors have not
halted rodent burrowing activity. Recommend additional measures be taken to stop burrowing on the
pond embankments.
Suggest the inlet be rehabilitated to arrest erosion at the inlet.
To reduce the time, equipment, and manpower requirements in estimating water and sediment levels in
the pond, and to fully comply with permit requirements, suggest two gage stakes be placed in the pond.
Due to the distribution of sediment and impounded water, suggest one stake be located near the inlet to
the pond (sediment delta) and one near the principal spillway (minimum of sediment, sometimes obscured
by water).
Chimney Rock Mine Pond #003 Inspection Report & Certification, 18 November 1994, Page 2 of 6
1
