,A
1992 ANNUAL RECLAMATION REPORT
SOUTHFIELD MINE
Introduction
This report documents all permanent reclamation work accomplished during calendar year 1992 at
Energy Fuels Coal, inc. (EFCn Southfield Mine. The report format includes text and Figure 1, Refuse
Disposal Site 1992 Reclamation Mep which fully address the requirements of Rule 2.04.13, Annual
Reclamation Report.
Permanent reclamation activities at the Southfield Mine were limited to covering and establishing
vegetation on the coal refuse pile during the reporting period. Consistent with previous reporting periods,
the reclamation at the refuse pile is the only area available to EFCI to reclaim during active mining
operations. In addition, EFCI is committed to completing the required permanent reclamation incrementally
as portions of the refuse pile reach final grade.
Disturbed. Backfilled and Tonsoiled Areas
EFCI disturbed approximately 2.8 acres during 1992 where soil materials were stripped to create
additional refuse pile storage southwest of the active disposal area. This disturbance is shown as area 1-D
on Figure 1, Refuse Disposal Site 1992 Reclamation Map.
No backfilling and grading operations were initiated during the reporting period. These operations
are not contemplated to commence until after mine closure according to the schedule in the permit
application.
Topsoil placement was wmpleted on approximately 3.9 acres of the northwest portion of the refuse
pile in conjunction with the soil stripping described above. Most of the topsoil was live handled and placed
on graded subsoil with the exception of topsoil utilized from the small pre-existing topsoil stockpile located
on top of the refuse pile. The entire topsoil stockpile was recovered to provide the required total soil
thickness on the subject reclamation area. The reclaimed and topsoiled area is shown as area 4-R on Figure
1, Refuse Disposal Site 1992 Reclamation Map.
Current and Previous Reveeetated Auras.
Permanent seed mix and straw mulch were applied to approximately 9.3 acres of reclaimed refuse
pile during 1992.
