the waste pile and, therefore, no benching occurred here.
Also resulting from this change was a very large
pile of soil and subsoil material, most of which was placed
on the old Peter Kiewit stockpile area. The volume came to
about 27,000 cubic yards.
Rule 2.41(2): Because of the great extent of work
required to build the new road, a very high priority task,
not nearly as much land was reclaimed as was planned. In
examining what could be done with the limited time available,
it was decided that reclamation of the abandoned road had
the highest importance. This area was graded in April and
May and was seeded the day after completion. The total
amount of land was about 2.5 to 3 acres. Seeding occurred
on May 12, 1983.
It is probable that before the end of the permit
year, at least 3 acres of road cuts along the new road will
also be seeded and mulched. As these face north, they can
be seeded rather late.
Rule 2.41(3): Besides the 2.5 acres already
seeded and the probable addition of about 3 more acres
before the permit year ends, the old stockpile area has been
topsoiled (about 5 acres), and about 3 to 4 acres has been
benched on the mine area.
