Taylor Creek
Typical of dry years, Taylor Creek showed very low and
intermittent flow. No significant changes in quality have
been noticed to date.
To monitor any potential groundwater impacts due to the
Gossard Coal Loadout facilities, Colowyo currently utilizes
one down gradient monitoring well (Gossard Well). To monitor
any potential groundwater impacts due to mining activities,
Colowyo currently utilizes one down gradient monitoring well
(North Goodspring Well) and one up gradient monitoring well
(A-3 Well).
Gossard Well
This well continues to show very little fluctuation in
water level and water quality. One sample taken in 1991
showed an elevated sulfate value, which is likely an anomaly.
North Goodspring Well
Sampling of the North Goodspring Well began in September
1989. The analyses do not indicate any potential problems
with the groundwater associated with Goodspring Creek.
A3 Well
This well serves as representative of "undisturbed"
groundwater conditions up gradient from Colowyo mining
activities. The analysis do not indicate any potential
problems with the groundwater associated with Goodspring
Creek.

3
