• SIIRFACE WATER
Goodsorina Creek
Data analysis for the period 1982 through 1991 at both
the Upper Goodspring sample location, which represents
undisturbed conditions upstream of mining, and the Lower
Goodspring sample location, which represents disturbed
conditions down gradient of the mining, indicate no
significant differences in water quality between locations.
Both sites continue showing a slight increase in TDS over the
past couple of years which is likely attributable to low flow
conditions associated with the past few drought years. There
continues to be anomalies in flow from one location to the
other that are attributed to beaver activity between the
• sites. The beaver activity continues to back water up into
the Upper Goodspring sample location flume and is starting to
effect the Lower Goodspring flume also. Due to this
condition, no flow measurements for the Upper Goodspring
location are presented this year. Attempts have been made to
remove the dams but with little long term success. Beaver
activity continues to be an important element of the
Goodspring Creek ecosystem and we see reason, at the present,
to change this trend. It is likely that eventually this
activity will back water up in all sampling locations Colowyo
utilizes to monitor the creek. In summary, there are no
apparent impacts to Goodspring Creek that are attributable to
the mining operation.

2
