CO 80203
Re: Lorencito Carryon Mine, Permit No. C-96-084
Annual Reclamation Report - 2004
Dear Mr. Gorham:
Division of Minerals and Geology
By [his letter Lorenci[o Coal Company LLC hereby submits the 2004 Annual Reclamation Report for the
Lorencito Canyon Mine. Acreages have been calculated based on digitized information from permit Map
2.05.3-5 Soil Sample Location and Soil Distributiou Plan. Although no additional acres were disturbed
during 2004, the dishrrbed acreage increased from 120.73 acres in 2003 to 153.8 acres in 2004 as a result
of the more accurate digitized data. Acreages for backfilled and graded, topsoiled, and seeded and
mulched areas similarly increased.
All required backfilling and grading was completed prior to 2004. Work completed during 2004 included
spreading topsoil on 45.6 acres and seeding and mulching of 41.6 acres. Soil recovery from borrow area
BA-1 continued through January of 2004. Soil placement is referenced by acreage and location in Table
ARR-1 Soil Distribution Plaa All soil analysis completed through December 2004 can be found in
Appendix 22 of the mining permit.
The majority of acreage seeded during the spring of 2004 was located between Fills 7 and 8. Seeding of
upper Fill 9 and an adjacent topsoil storage area were completed in June of 2004. This work is referenced
by location and acreage in Table ARR-2 Seeding Plan coded to reference Map 2.05.3-5 of the permit.
Seeded areas by year are shown on Map ARR-1 2004. The areas sceded in 2004 called for and were
broadcast seeded with the seed mixture for rangeland post-mining land use areas (Table 2.05.4-2) at 18-
20 ]bs. PLS/ac. This was accompanied with an application of certified weed-free barley straw at 1.5
tons/acre. Seed and straw certifications are appended to this report.
RECE@VE®
MAR 0 ~ 2u95
Givision of Minerals and Geology
During 2004, Technical Revision 13 was submitted to the Division. This revision established an
additional soil borrow area and a plan to complete the top soiling and seeding of the remaining disturbed
acreage that maybe deficient in soil material. This will be implemented in 2005.
