A seeding program was carried out in 1985, and addi-
tional acreage is scheduled to be seeded in the fall of 1985, or
spring of 1986. The detailed areas are listed below.
1. Location and Number of Acres Affected During the Year
The affected area for 1985 remains at 310 acres, all in pre-
viously bonded area. All new disturbance is in Cut 5, which
is completely bonded and included in affected area.
The 1984-85 Mining Activities by Cut are as follows :
Cut 1 -- Approximately 80,000 tons of topsoil have been
stockpiled on the backfill. This stockpile is
scheduled for temporary stabilization seeding in
the fall of 1985, or the spring of 1986. Two
smaller areas totaling approximately nine acres are
also scheduled for permanent seeding.
Cut 2 -- Approximately six acres were seeded September 19 ,
1985. A portion of the cut, combined with Cut 4
area, is being used as a waste dust and plant
refuse dump during backfilling. Another portion of
the cut, again with Cut 4 , is also being used as a
sandstone quarry.
Cut 3 -- This cut is being backfilled with overburden from
Cut 5.
Cut 4 -- Limestone quarrying has been completed in Cut 4.
Sandstone is presently being quarried, and part of
the cut is being backfilled with waste dust and
plant refuse. The cut is dry. Backfill with over-
burden from Cut 6 will not begin until 1986-87.
Cut 5 -- This cut has been completely stripped of topsoil ,
and is presently being stripped of overburden ahead
of the limestone quarrying.
There has been no change in successive cuts.
2. Location and Number of Acres Reclaimed During the Year
Approximately nine acres in, and adjacent to, Cut 2 were
seeded, or re-seeded during 1984-85.
