Sewr61 changes to the hydrologic monitoring program rasa made this year in Permit Renaral <br />Wo.3, rhich was approved on Juno 19, 1997. Folloring is a s~~~--~-ry of tSie approved <br />changes. 1) Ground rater level monitoring hae been chmged from five to three times s <br />yaaz. 2) Monitoring of Walla CW-S2-U and GW-921-LWI hae bean discontinued. Thaee tro <br />wells monitor a pre-SNCRA mine pit azea and both haw over •ewntean years of data <br />collected. 3) Monitoring o! Walla GW-570-A and CW-371-A (lower and upper Grassy Creek <br />alluvium) has bean established. 6) Monitoring nt Stream SitA SW-32-6 (Cow Camp Creek) hae <br />bean discontinued. This creek continues to be monitored n Stream Site SW-32-10. 5) <br />Springs 1 and 2 and Spoil Spsinq S aunts in a pre-SMCRA azaa. Springs 3 and 5 aze poorly <br />defined Weeps in seasonally marshy areas. Monitoring st the five springs has been <br />discontinued. 6) Honitori.nq at Stream Site SW-9-3 hae been re-established. This vita <br />monitors diarl~asgea lrom the pre-SMCRA area referred to show in Items 2 and 5. 7) Tha <br />monitoring frequencies fox Spoil Springs 2 to 7, 9 and 10 haw been increased from <br />annually to semiannually. In addition, full-suite lab samples rill be collected for all <br />these springs rith flora greater than three qpm. S) The ner monitoring program is now <br />summazirad in table form and may ba found in the pAP on pages 7-341 and 342 (ground rates) <br />and 7-349 and 350 (surface rates). <br />Hetaorological Date <br />Precipitation data van obtained at the Seneca II Mine using a eelfort Weighing evckat Rain <br />Gaga. Daily precipitation data for this yeaz are presented in Table 1. Total monthly <br />precipitation data collected since 1981 ass presented in Table 2. Sihere indicated, data <br />from the U. S. Weather Sarvica - Hayden Station rare used. Temperature, rind npeed and <br />direction data era presented in ?«~-a+= 8 of the Seneca II-W AHR. The Seneca II-W Mine <br />Meteorological Station located approumately sawn miles eouthrast of the Sanaca II Mine. <br />Climatic conditions era similar batrben the two mines. <br />Data from the National Climatic Data Cantez fox the Hayden Station was used to awluata <br />the precipitation trend. For this yeaz, 28.53 inches of precipitation wan measured, rhich <br />was 11.69 incl~ae (69i) greeter than the 1961-1990 average. All months but December, <br />Februazy, March, and Jura rare above average. Snorpavc runoff, as estimated by totaling <br />November through April precipitation wluas, vas 11.66 inthes, rhich wan 3.25 inrhea (39ti) <br />above the 1961-1990 nwrnga. <br />• <br />2 <br />
