extended from the steep section of Refuse Ditch No. 1, westerly 450 feet along the lower contour
ditch; thence south easterly approximately 315 feet to a point on the Refuse Ditch No. 1
approximately 300 feet below and south of the point of beginning. The size of the referenced area
being 1.1 acres, more or less.
Disturbance resulting from this work was interseeded using a rangeland seed drill on the
triangulaz pazcel and contour ditches/embankments were interseeded by hand with the approved
seed mix.
Site Maintenance
The existing silt fence was repaired/tightened at the CWD1 Disturbance SAE area that is
located adjacent to Section "A" of Diversion Ditch 2.
A short stretch in the steep section of watershed diversion Ditch N4 had down-cut under
the bordering barb wire fence. Rip-rap was placed along the ditch bank, rock dam installed and
the barb wire fence repaired.
Ground settling was reported in the small ravine intersecting the south boundary line
directly south of the shop building. During April, a backhce was brought in and excavated the
settled zone down to firm material. Fill material was truck hauled to the site which was placed
and compacted in the excavation, filling it back to the previous elevation. The site was graded
smooth and then interseeded by hand with the approved seed mix.
In an effort to improve performance of the contour furrows located on the south-facing
slope of the refuse disposal area, continuous contour ditches were installed during April, 2003.
The continuous ditches span across the south slope along the contour of the slope with a gradient
of 1 % for gentle drainage. The contour ditches drain into the rip-rapped, steep section of Refuse
Ditch k 1 located in the northeastern corner of the refuse disposal area. Following installation of
the ditches, the areas between the ditches were interseeded using a rangeland seed drill drilling the
approved permanent seed mix. The ditches/embankments were interseeded by hand. Maintenance
of the contour ditches was later performed in July and September to remove sediment and
reinforce embankments in minor areas.
Major maintenance was performed on the main entrance road of the mine site. During
November, a local contractor was contracted by EFMC to haul, spread and grade approximately 6
inches of road base gravel on the main entrance road commencing at the west entrance gate
extending through to the facilities shop building.
]3ackfilled and Graded Areas
No azeas were backfilled and graded during the reporting period.
Tonsoiled Areas
No azeas were topsoiled during the reporting period. (Note the above work where pond sediment
was analyzed as suitable soil and spread on site).
3
