b. Plate 3 - a somewhat more detailed overview map of the project area
showing the location of the permit area.
c. Plate 5 -this detailed plan map does not involve the actual site, but this
sheet contains the notes referenced on other Plates.
d. Plate 7 -covers the most western portion of the project that overlaps
permitted or released land. All land involved in the project here has
already been released and does not present any conflicts.
e. Plate 8 -shows both permitted and released land. Note that there are three
categories within the still permitted land. The unshaded areas are outside
the project boundaries (except for access routes). The green shaded area is
land that has not been affected by the mining operation. The orange or
salmon colored shade is land that has been affected by the mining
operation but is within the project Right of Way. These three categories
are also used on the next three Plates. Acreages of the two colored zones
are also provided. The colored zones are the lands that are of particular
importance to resolving the overlap difficulties between the Reclamation
Permit and the Project.
Plate 9 - this is the next map down river from Plate 8. On this plate the
released Litvack Lake is shown as well as a part of the project that has
now been dropped from the plan. Initially it was thought that realigning
the river in this area would be useful in an attempt to create somewhat
more sinuosity to the river course. This would have been done by
excavating an artificial meander on the north side of the river. It was found
that the cost of this was far too great and it was decided to leave the river
channel in its current course. The new Right of Way line has been drawn
on this map, although it is not shown on the official plans. Presumably,
that will be changed at some point, but as no bid for a contract to realign
the river is being offered it probably does not matter whether it is changed
or not -the realignment will not occur in any case.
g. Plate 10 -this map covers the next stretch of the river east of Plate 9. Once
again, released lake areas are shown. Note the Pueblo Nature Center is
shown on the north side of the river toward the east end of the map.
h. Plate 11 -this is the next map downstream from Plate 10 and takes the
"tour" to the eastern end of the Pueblo West Pit permit area. The project
continues for several miles downstream from the Divelbliss Lake.
i. Plates 24, 25, 26, 28, and 29 -these plates contain more detailed plans and
diagrams of how the various structures are to be built and installed. These
pertain to the entire project corridor and not just this permit overlap area.
4. Photographs - A series of photographs are provided that follow a rough sequence
from west to east along the river corridor. The report cover photograph was taken
a short distance downstream from the Pueblo Nature Center and shows a
fisherman and the Pueblo Nature Center on the bend of the river in the
background.
Pueblo West Pit and River Restoration Project Investigation Report Page 3 of 6
