Figure 4 shows the conceptual F~
design of the reclaimed tailings pond. Z • 137 ? - I
I~~~
The tailings pond is currently Hypalon lined to prevent seepage of pond water into the .Y~~
water table. This liner wIIl be removed to prevent the tailings-cement mixture from r~~
becoming saturated by precipitation infiltration. The berm of the pond.will be bulldozed Tom{ ~,
into the depression. The remainder of the pond depression will be filled with material ~~ ~~~,~
from useable waste-rock piles within the permit area and clean fill from off site as q~.~ ~' ~,,,- 'S PM
necessary. ~~
5
Waste rock piles will be tested for ABP prior to use as fill material for the pond. Waste ~~~ ~ haws>/
rock that does not pass the ABP test will not be used as fill unless it is neutralized and n 9 Z,
stabilized with concrete, and confirmation testing indicates that it is suitable for use. Fill ~. nod` ! ~ C~~~"`''
material will be imported if it is more cost effective than neuvalizmg and stabilizing the / ~Qw~~*- !, i rvc~ 1"~-r~'
waste rock, or if all on-site waste rock sources are depleted. ~`•-~~
The 5ll over the pond will be regraded with a constant slope from one side of the.pond to Z`1 ~ ~ ~ ~
the other. A 1-foot thick layer of suitable plant growth material (soil) will be placed atop r"~~ I ~ I b e ~` °' ~"'"'""`•
the fill. Soil will be placed 3 ~ ~ 1 ~ 7 ,~ ~ er.a.~~'
on the regraded surface, and tree and shrub seedlings and native grasses will be planted on ~ ~ t,~~~ ~2~ ~
the dam areas as needed to stabilize slopes and give a natural appearance. Impound
Diversion ditches that currently route storm water around the pond will be left in place
and repaired to prevent storm water run-on to the reclaimed impoundment. All above-
,,. ground piping will be removed.
3.4 Land Application System
i.
All piping and other equipment associated with the land application system will be
removed from the permit area. All salvageable materials will be stored at an unspecified
off-site location. Other materials will be disposed of off site. The land application system
is installed in a well vegetated area among trees, shrubs and grasses. The piping is above
ground, and no site disturbance will occur during removal.
3.5 Waste-Rock Removal Area Revegetation
Several waste-rock piles lie within the permit area. These piles were generated during
historic mining activities dating to the 1870s, and reclamation is not required under the
milling permit. However, some of these materials may be used as fill as discussed in
Section 3.3.
iW.ysinrtrmi4.eW.dm.lo.,es7
P`~ r`~,~
3.
