x =sample mean for shrub density data.

I
After an adequate sample had been collected, an assessment of the percent that these
"sufficiently dense" patches comprise of the total BRB-3 area was made.
The criterion for formal for judgement of the adequate stocking of woody plants on the Seneca II
site is as follows:
Overall average density ? 100 stems per acre with at least 5% of the BRB-3 area oossessing s
1000 stems per acre.
HYPOTHESIS TESTING APPROACHES -BRB-4REV
For BRB-4rev, in which formal hypothesis testing relative to Phase II Bond Release was pursued,
the following procedures were followed:
Cover
Percent absolute (foliar) first hit herbaceous vegetation cover of BRB-4rev 2 90% of TWICE the
weighted absolute (foliar) first hit herbaceous vegetation cover from the reference areas
(weighted based on 83% original extent of Mountain Brush /Aspen and 17% original extent of
Sagebrush/Snowbeny). The factor of 2x the reference area first hit herbaceous cover of the
reference areas is contained in the Seneca 11 permit document.
Statistical tests used were as for BRB-3 cover.
Climatic Data
SCC provided precipitation data for the Seneca II Mine for the period of January 1982 through
September 2006. Since the long-term average for the mine exists far only 22 years, the long-
term average monthly precipitation data (56 years) from the Western Regional Climate Center
(WRCC) for the nearby town of Hayden was used as an appropriate base for comparison. SCC
also provided temperature data for the nearby Seneca IIW Mine in 2006; these data were used
for temperature analysis on the Seneca II Mine.
RESULTS
Numerical data are found in Tables 1 through 16 of Appendix 1. Sample data from the 2006
revegetation monitoring studies at the Seneca II Mine are presented in Tables 1 through 12.
13
