The 1999 precipitation was lower than normal. The precipitation for 2000 was
within the normal range, however the vegetative production was significantly less than
average. In the year 2000 the precipitation for May -June was adequate, but due to an
extremely dry April, growth was limited and resulted in early maturity of vegetation. The
precipitation for 2001 was below the normal range. Precipitation in April and May enhanced
the early grass production however, due to a damaging frost in June, grass and fort
production was limited. The month of June was extremely dry causing all vegetation to be
• slow maturing. Due to above normal temperatures in the fall and late summer precipitation
33
