•
5.4 Planting Plan
:~
Wetland excavation will begin as soon as constructed bench hydrologic regime is properly
functioning to support wetland vegetation. Wetland soils and vegetation will be carefully
excavated so that materials are not unnecessarily disturbed by taking the upper 0.5 to 1 foot of
material. Special attention will be made to minimize root disturbance and to keep green
vegetation upright as it is directly transplanted to the mitigation area. If possible, excavation and
transplanting will be performed when plant materials are in a dormant, dry state. This strategy of
timing and not stockpiling excavated wetland materials will be carried through all mitigation
phases.
5.5 Irrigation Plan
No irrigation should be necessary. Irrigation water is available to supplement natural
groundwater should this be necessary during the vegetation establishment period.
5.6 As-Built Conditions
A final report will be submitted to the COE by project proponent within 60 days of completion of
each mitigation phase. Elements of this report will describe as-built status of constructed
wetlands (i.e., bench configuration), plantings, and erosion control practices. Representational
cross-section lines are depicted on the drawings MP-1 and RP-I respectively showing site grading
prior to mining and post reclamation (refer to Appendix B, S-1 for profiles).
5-2
