parameters were determined as described in the surface methods <br />section of this report. <br />RESULTS <br />Results of groundwater data collected during 1991 are presented <br />in Appendix 4. Graphs of the pertinent water quality parameters <br />are also shown in that appendix. <br />I In the fourth quarter of 1990, the water elevation in monitoring <br />well B-6 dropped by approximately 14 feet but soon after began to <br />rise again. It is believed that there was a possible failure of <br />a barrier between old mine workings and the area being monitored <br />by well B-6. <br />It should be noted that the water elevation in monitoring well B- <br />6 trended upward until this barrier failure occurred. After the <br />water level dropped and stabilized, the water in the well began <br />to steadily increase again but at a reduced rate. This can be <br />explained by considering that the failure increased the <br />underground volume to be filled but with the same quantity of <br />l inflow, thereby reducing the rate of water increase in the well. <br />1 <br />
