C~
Memo to PCPC
Re: SUP No. 592
July 21, 1987
Pagp Three
•
Staff conducted an on-site review of the subject property on
July 7, 1987 and observed the following:
(1) Access to the site from Colorado 165 was limited
by a locked gate;
(2) The site did not appear visible from the highway;
(3) The site had been mined recently;
(4) The site is being mined in a workman-like fashion
apparently causing little unnecessary environmental
impact; and
(5) The site is being kept clean with regard to ,Junk and
discarded oil.
Staff wishes to complement Mrs. Pope on the manner in which her
mine is being operated. The fact that conditions 1 and 2 have
not been fully met yet is more a lack of reporting than a lack of
action on the applicant's part. Although the act of securing the
permits is the most important aspect of the conditions, reporting
is also Smportant--it allows County staff to finish its ,Job.
RECOMMENDATION
Staff recommends APPROVAL of Special Use Permit No. 592, with the
following conditions:
(1) The applicant shall submit a copy of her Mined Land
Reclamation Board 110 Permit to the Department of
Planning and Development within 30 days of this
July 28, 1987 approval.
(2) The applicant shall submit a copy of the "initial
approval" of her Fugitive Dust Permit within 30 days
of this July 28, 1987 approval. The applicant shall
also submit a copy of the Fugitive Dust Permit "final
approval" within 30 days of her receiving it from the
health department,
(3) The applicant shall require proof from the mine
operator that crushing and/or screening equipment
has a valid emissions permit ("final approval")
issued by the Colorado Department of Health.
(4) Special Use Permit No. 592 shall he reviewed on a
complaint basis.
SGD:lr
c: Ina C. Pope
