1999 Annual Report. The subsidence monitoring program consists ofwide-spaced grid, high resolution
and visual monitoring stations.
Thirteen wide-spaced monitoring grid stations were monitored during 2000. A review of the subsidence
monitoring data shows that monitoring stations arestill experiencing active changes in elevation, some
rising while other stations are falling. The elevation changes are slight to moderate in degree. Most of the
stations that exhibited modest changes in elevation from 1999 are located in possible landslide areas.
Survey discrepancies and changes in control points associated with previous surveys maybe the cause of
larger apparent elevation changes at several other monitoring locations.
Seven high resolution subsidence monitoring locations were surveyed for the Pitkin Mesa pipeline. Results
show very little or no vertical movement. The visual monitoring inspection did not reveal any areas of
concern.
The operator proposed essentially the same subsidence monitoring points for the yeaz 2001 program as was
done in the year 2000 program. The Division agreed with this plan.
The operator has submitted a request, in Technical Revision No, 40, to terminate subsidence monitoring at
the Bowie No, 1 Mine. The request is under review at this time.
If you have any questions, please call me.
Sincerely,
seph J. D~3dash
Environmental Protection Specialist
cc: Mr. William A.
