Energy~lpacts
Energy utilization will see only a minimal increase. This will cause no shortages or additional strain on
existing power needs of the area. Power and water facilities already exist nearby requiring no addi-
• tional demands for utilities.
Air quality
Currently air quality is impacted by heavy vehicle traffic, dense residential activity and industrial op-
erations in the surrounding metro areas.
Air emissions standards, including monitoring, associated with a recycling and depository center will
be followed according to the State of Colorado Department of Air Quality standards and State of
Colorado Public Health and Environment Department standards regarding Solid Waste Regulations.
Fugitive dust during construction and operation can be minimized by applying control strategies.
Water Quality
No permanent surface water sources are included in the proposed project area. Three secondary
drainages exist within the project area which drain approximately 500 acres during precipitation events.
None are included in any culinary or irrigation programs.
Clean water standards, including monitoring, associated with a recycling and depository center will be
followed according to the State of Colorado Department of Water Quality standards and State of Colo-
rado Public Health and Environment Department standards regarding Solid Waste Regulations.
• Sub surface water sources will be protected through construction and engineering designs available
from the design consultant, Petotec International Corporation.
Hazardous waste
No hazardous waste will be accepted at the proposed facility.
Cultural Resources
The State of Colorado Office of Archaeology and Historic Preservation was contacted regazding an
inventory of cultural resources within the Township /Range the proposed project area is in. Literature
searches indicated no historic or prehistoric sites in the proposed project area. Field observations also
indicated no historic or prehistoric sites in the proposed project area.
Veeetation
Construction of the proposed facility will remove soils and destroy some plant life. Loss of vegetation
will be only short term if revegetation is successful. Proper post construction reclamation, landscaping
and seeding will provide a hospitable environment for plant life to return.
Ssila
Soils within the proposed project facility consist of the Bresser Series.
According to the t1SDA Soil Survey of the Castle RockArea.Colorado the Bresser series consists of
. well drained soils that formed in sandy soil material deposited by wind and water. These gently sloping
to moderately steep (sloping 1 -15 %) soils are on terraces and uplands in the warmer part of the area
the soil survey covers.
